Today I realized just how much I am going to miss my friends while I am on my mission. I am going to especially miss my interior design friends because they will all be seniors when I come back :( Buuuut....I know I am doing the right thing and I'll just have to wait 18 months to see them again. I love you all.

Man-Go
To my left here you can find a lovely little diagram showing the proper way to cut a mango. (I also learned how to do this at my nifty produce job. No big deal.

mmmmmmmm..... |
Fact: Mangoes are my favorite fruit. It has recently been decided.
Fact: Today I had possibly the best, most delicious and juicy mango of my life. So juicy, in fact that I didn't even care that the juice was running down my arms as I hovered over the kitchen sink.
Fact: I was SOOO-count them 3 Os!!!- Excited to hear from my good pal Austin that mangoes are very popular in the Philippines and you can get huge suckers for real low cheap! Who know, maybe for even like...one money!!! HOLLAR!!!
Fact: The BEST way to eat a mango, besides devouring it over the sink, is to eat it over sticky rice covered in coconut milk. (Menu item #1 on the menu at The Thai House in Tooele) (yes, I'm a regular there...)

SOOOOOO GOOOOOD! |

- Step Uno: Slice neatly along pit
- Step 2: Score mango vertically
- Step Next: Score mango horizontally completing a checkerboard look
- Step Last: Turn peel inside out to get cute little mango squares!
Holy! Who knew there were THAT many different types of mangoes!!?!??!?
Also, who knows if it's MANGOS, or MANGOES???
(my spellcheck says mangoes, but who really knows?)
Annnnnd if you're as obsessed with mangoes as I am, feel free to check out this neato website I found!

Farmer's Market
Today my fam went to the Salt Lake City Farmer's Market. There was a wide range of craft booths, photography booths, and about 957 homemade soap booths. I mean seriously Utahns. Is there really nothing else to do in this word but make soap!? Holy.
I was a little bit more cautious with spending my mullah today because firstly I'm going on a mission so I need to save, and secondly I am going on a mission so I don't need to buy 47 bars of soap. Although the Philippines is a sweaty place......
Anywho...the FM provided a great deal of excellent people watching including many granola types, hippies, old fat people in jazzys, and cuuuute little kids playing tiny instruments. I know it's cliche to say, but this little guy below stole my heart. His little squeaky violin was the cutest thing EVER!

Other highlights of our day included DELISH strawberry lemonade of which I sipped using possibly the biggest straw known to mankind, snapping shots of the CUTEST Bulldog ever , beautiful flowers, unique musicians and performers, and noticing the vendors of Salt Lake City cannot spell worth a rats tush. Do enjoy these spelling mistakes and for more laughs visit here!

Guten Tag!
Woah it has been so long since my last post that I sort of forgot the name of my blog...oooops...but luckily Google knew what I was searching for and led me in the right direction.
So...today as part of my family's "staycation" we went into SLC to a little German deli called Siegfried's. Needless to say, the food was FABTAB! I love German food, and since Linds served her mish there she was able to translate the menu for us all. I do however, know that rotkohl (amazing red cabbage cooked in lots of other ingredients) is one of my FAVS along with Spaetzle (thick noodles covered in brown gravy). I got extra excited when I saw they had marzipan cake on the menu and most def had to have a slice. You can prob tell from the picture below that I speedily devoured that sucker in record time.
After a sehr gut lunch (look at me being all bi-lingual) we went to this strange store called the EMP store...or maybe it was called EMS...either way it was basically a giant DI only everything was new-ish. I think the products come from loads that were damaged on trucks or something like that because everything was REALLY cheap, and expired- like seriously what joint would sell yogurt that had expired 2 months ago??? Definitely Josie-Grossie. I did, however, find The Wedding Singer and Bride Wars brand new, for like $3 a piece. What a steal!
After the SLC adventure we returned to good old Tooele where we went to see Cowboys and Aliens, or as my Mother called it, "Cowboys and Indians." Apparently she was a tad confused with what movie we were actually seeing. Anywho...it was a really great movie and the fact that Daniel Craig is the star (who is veeery easy on the eyes) only makes it more of a great flick. Whelp the day is coming to an end, so please do enjoy these photos from my day.
Auf Wiedersehen!!!!

Teeth, Temple, and Treats
Last Thursday I went to the Den-teest for my mish papers. I passed with flying colors! Then my pal Molly and I went into Salt Lake to the temple, which we have been doing for a couple of weeks now. After a lovely time in the temple, we sat in Temple Square chatting with some sister missionaries. It made me UBER jealous that they were already on their missions, and I still have to wait. :( Then Molly and I wanted to treat ourselves to a scrumptious/fancy dinner so we hit up The Rodizio Grill. That place is FAB-TAB! We had the salad bar and the endless meat-on-speer option. SooooOOOOOooooo Delicious! The strangest thing we ate was a chicken heart which tasted just like...chicken... strange. Then after we were soo stuffed that we couldn't eat another bite we ordered a dessert which consisted of cinnamon pastries filled with cream drenched in caramel and vanilla ice cream... divine. After we rolled ourselves out of the restaurant, we stopped in some of the shops at Trolley Square. There was a neato place with a lot of cool ethnic jewelry and tapestries and a pop culturey place that sold such awesome stuff! Do enjoy the pics I snapped of our day!

Big Day
Today was a big day for me. You wanna know why? Well....I'll tell ya. I had my very FIRST Big Mac. No, my parents didn't intentionally deprive me of this burger my whole life, and yes I did say it was my first Big Mac...in 20+ years. And let me tell you, I wasn't a big fan. I mean, it was tasty and I licked my fingers once or twice, but it wasn't anything compared to my fav the Big N' Tasty. That secret sauce just didn't do it for me I suppose.
On the bright side, as my parents and I sat and people watched whilst licking our delish McDonald's ice creams cones, a gaggle of young boys (prob like 6th graders) walked in holding Macey's bags. Then they proceeded to each pull out their purchases as they nestled into their booth. Each boy revealed a different soda-Jones, Fanta, etc. Then the last boy pulled out a Fuji water. I liked that kid. Very clever and original. The best part was watching all 4 of the boys try and help out the Fanta boy with his bottle because apparently they didn't know you can just twist the cap and it will come off. Instead they tried multiple ways to pop it off using the table and chairs as leverage. But...to no avail. Eventually they asked the cashier for help who simply twisted the cap off which completely amazed the boys. Topic of conversation for these boys for the rest of the day: "Dude! She totally popped that cap off with her bare hands."
I love people watching.
